This weeks recipe was a beef and broccoli lo mein. I was actually really successful at making this dish, it turned out super good. When looking over the recipe, it doesn’t look too difficult to make (which it isn’t at all) however, as a beginner I am impressed with myself, and I need to start somewhere! The down side is that it was a little pricey, at least for a student. Luckily my roommate supplied the ginger, soya sauce, and sesame oil, so I didn’t have to purchase those. I had to buy all the other ingredients, which came to around $20-$25 (thanks to the beef). Unfortunately the store was out of hoisin sauce, so I just added more soya sauce and brown sugar. It still tasted awesome in the end. This dish lasted me for 3 meals, so that was awesome. I would definitely make it again, next time I would add more carrots and try adding hoisin sauce.
