In this week’s class, we discussed ways we have observed technology being used in our classrooms. Some things mentioned were chromebooks, computer labs, using online videos for brain breaks and FreshGrade. I specifically am super interested in FreshGrade. My mentor teacher introduced me to it, and I keep hearing about it since. My edtech inquiry project partner and I are actually researching the platform for our project. I got mixed feelings from the class on the website, as some students felt it was awesome to have a great resource to give detailed feedback, and others felt it was way too time consuming.
Next, we discussed resources to help learn kids learn code. We were given a list of different programs and sites that help kids learn code, and got to pick the corresponding breakout group. The topic I chose was Hour of Code. Our group had a ton of fun exploring this fun website. The website gives students a bunch of different activities and links for them to develop and work on their coding skills. I think this website is a great resource for kids to learn code, as even us adults had a ton of fun navigating it!
